Justice Seen: Justice Done

Liverpool Mutual Homes

We raised awareness of the Justice Seen, Justice Done project to give confidence to law-abiding LMH tenants that their landlord was acting on anti-social behaviour in communities in a restorative way.

The scheme sees Community Payback Orders issued to criminals forcing them to work five days a week until they complete their unpaid hours, with work starting within two days of sentencing.

It has resulted in a 50 per cent reduction in anti-social behaviour, tenants say they feel safer in their homes and offenders are shown the affects of their crimes and rehabilitate quicker than custodial sentences.

Coverage was received locally and nationally with features on BBC Radio One and BBC Online.

We also promoted the innovative scheme nationally as a case study of best practice that resulted in visits from Baroness Newlove and the work featured on the Department of Communities and Local Government and the Ministry of Justices' websites.

To complete our publicity campaign, we wrote entries that saw the project win Merseyside Citysafe, TPAS and CIH Housing Heroes awards.
